History of RCB
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the establishment of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to be started in the year 2008.
The Indian Premier League started as a twenty20 competition with eight teams representing eight Indian cities, including Bangalore.
The various IPL teams were put up for auction by the BCCI on the 20th of February 2008.
The Bangalore franchise was purchased by the Indian businessman and politician Vijay Mallya for a whopping sum of $111.6 million.
The brand value of the Royal Challengers Bangalore is $68 million, making it the strongest brand in the IPL, with a brand strength index (BSI) score of 70.6 out of 100.

Royal Challengers Bangalore Ownership
The Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise was initially purchased by the Indian businessman and politician Vijay Mallya for a whopping $111.6 million.
In 2016, after a series of scams, Vijay Mallya resigned from the Chairman of the United Spirits post with the parent company Diageo India.
United Spirits Limited owns RCB, with its senior executive Prathmesh Mishra heading as the chairman of the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
