Avada

★★★

The archetypal multipurpose theme: does everything, weighs a lot, hard to leave. A known quantity with known costs.

BEST FOR
Agencies delivering heavily designed one-off client sites

What it is

Avada is one of the best-selling WordPress themes ever made, bundling a page builder, a header and footer builder, dozens of demos and a large options panel.

It is designed so an agency can deliver almost any design without writing code, and it has been doing that reliably for over a decade.

Its costs are the same as every theme of this type: weight, and content tied to its own builder.

What it does

Fusion Builder handles page layout visually, with a large element library covering sliders, pricing tables, portfolios and everything else a brochure site might want.

Prebuilt websites import complete designs for dozens of industries, which is genuinely fast if the client wants something conventional.

The global options panel controls typography, colour and layout site-wide, and there is a lot of it.

The weight is significant and the lock-in real. Deactivate Avada and your pages lose their layout, so the choice is effectively for the life of the site.

Who it's for

01Agencies delivering conventional client sites quickly.
02Designers who want everything in one purchase.
03Businesses wanting a specific industry demo imported.
04Existing Avada users with working sites.
05Projects where visual delivery speed beats performance.

Performance wizard helps trim unused features.

Overkill for a normal business site.

Pricing

PLAN WHAT YOU GET WORTH IT FOR
Single site licence One site, lifetime updates, six months support. Individual projects.
Support extension Extended support period. Agencies wanting ongoing help.
Multi-site options Separate licences per site. Agencies buy per project.
Marketplace add-ons Third-party elements. Optional.

Priced per site rather than as a subscription, which suits agencies billing per project. Budget one licence per client site.

MY RECOMMENDED PLAN

A single-site licence per project, with the performance wizard used properly at build time. Treat the choice as a five-year commitment.

Alternatives

Divi
Similar proposition with a lifetime unlimited-sites licence.
Elementor with a light theme
More flexible ecosystem, comparable lock-in.
Kadence or GeneratePress
Faster with no lock-in, less pixel control.
Bricks
Cleaner output for developers who want a builder.

My verdict

Avada is a reliable way to deliver a conventional, heavily designed WordPress site quickly, and that is a real commercial need. If you are an agency turning around brochure sites on fixed budgets, it works and it has worked for a decade.

The costs have not changed and the alternatives have improved. Modern block themes now produce most of what clients ask for at a fraction of the weight and with no lock-in, which changes the calculation for new projects.

If a client specifically wants an imported industry demo next week, this delivers. Otherwise I would build on Kadence and keep the content portable.
