BEST FOR
Local businesses and organisations wanting hand-holding

What it is

Constant Contact is a long-established email platform aimed at small local businesses, charities and membership organisations rather than at marketers.

Its differentiators are support, event management and surveys, all bundled in, and an interface designed for people with no marketing background.

It is more expensive than its capability warrants, and the people it serves often do not want the alternatives.

What it does

Campaign building with templates and a guided editor, designed so somebody who has never sent a campaign can produce something respectable.

Event management with registration, ticketing and reminders, which is genuinely useful for organisations running regular events and rare in an email platform.

Surveys and polls included, again unusual and relevant for membership organisations gathering feedback.

Automation is basic: welcome series and simple triggers, well short of what MailerLite includes at a lower price.

Who it's for

01Local businesses and clubs with no marketing staff.
02Charities and membership organisations running events.
03Anyone who wants to be walked through their first campaign.
04Organisations needing surveys and event registration alongside email.
05Users who value in-person and phone support.

Pricing

PLAN WHAT YOU GET WORTH IT FOR
Free trial Limited period with full access. Testing.
Lite Basic campaigns and support. Very simple needs.
Standard Automation, segmentation, more features. The usual tier.
Premium Advanced features and dedicated support. Larger organisations.

Priced by contact count and typically above MailerLite or Brevo for less capability. The premium buys support and the event tooling.

MY RECOMMENDED PLAN

The Standard tier, and only if the event management or the hand-holding is what you are buying. For email alone, this is poor value.

Alternatives

MailerLite
Cheaper with better automation and a clean interface.
AWeber
The other support-led option, at a similar profile and lower price.
Brevo
Far cheaper for large lists mailed occasionally.
Eventbrite plus MailerLite
Two better tools for less, if events are the reason.

My verdict

Constant Contact is the platform I would recommend to a village hall committee and not to a business. The support genuinely holds your hand, the event registration works, and neither justifies the price if you are comfortable using software.

Its real competitor for the organisations it serves is not MailerLite but doing nothing. Judged that way, it has value: people who would never send a campaign do send one here.

If you run events and need registration and email together, price it against Eventbrite plus MailerLite. That combination usually costs less and does both jobs better.
