What it is
QuillBot is a paraphrasing and rewriting tool: paste text and it produces alternative phrasings in different registers, from formal to simple.
It also includes a summariser, grammar checker, citation generator and translator, though paraphrasing is what people use it for.
It is genuinely handy for a sentence that will not come right, and it is also the tool most often used to disguise copied writing, which is worth naming plainly.
What it does
Paraphrasing modes rewrite text as standard, fluent, formal, simple or shortened, with a slider controlling how much it changes.
The summariser condenses long text into key points or a paragraph, adequate for getting the gist of something.
Grammar checking is competent and behind Grammarly's.
A citation generator and translator round it out, both serviceable rather than notable.

Pricing
| PLAN | WHAT YOU GET | WORTH IT FOR |
|---|---|---|
| Free | Limited words per paraphrase, two modes. | Occasional use. |
| Premium monthly | Unlimited words, all modes, faster processing. | Regular users. |
| Premium annual | Cheaper per month. | Committed users. |
| Team | Multiple seats. | Small teams. |
Cheap, with annual billing reducing it further. Note that any AI assistant you already pay for does this job as well or better.
The free tier for occasional use. If you already pay for ChatGPT or Claude, you do not need this at all.
Alternatives
My verdict
QuillBot does one small thing usefully: giving you three alternative phrasings when a sentence will not come right. For non-native English writers in particular, that is genuinely valuable.
Two honest cautions. It overlaps completely with any AI assistant you already pay for, so if you have ChatGPT or Claude, this is a redundant subscription. And the most common use of paraphrasing tools is disguising somebody else's writing, which is both a plagiarism risk and a way of producing text that says nothing.
Use it to unstick yourself, not to avoid thinking. And check the output, because it occasionally changes meaning while preserving grammar.
