What it is
Calendly is a scheduling tool. You share a link, the other person picks from your real availability, and the meeting appears in both calendars with a video link attached.
The problem it solves is trivial to describe and expensive in practice: arranging a single call by email typically costs four messages and two days.
It is one of the first tools I set up for any business that takes calls, and the free tier covers most people completely.
What it does
Booking links that respect your actual calendar, with buffers, minimum notice and daily limits so people cannot fill your day.
Multiple event types for different meeting lengths and purposes, each with its own availability rules.
Automatic video conferencing links and calendar invitations, with reminder emails that measurably reduce no-shows.
Intake questions on the booking form collect what you need before the call, which is the difference between a useful first call and a discovery session.

Pricing
| PLAN | WHAT YOU GET | WORTH IT FOR |
|---|---|---|
| Free | One event type, unlimited bookings. | Most individuals. Genuinely sufficient. |
| Standard | Multiple event types, integrations, reminders. | Consultants and service businesses. |
| Teams | Round-robin, routing, admin controls. | Sales and support teams. |
| Enterprise | SSO and compliance controls. | Large organisations. |
The free tier's single event type is the only real limitation, and it is enough for anybody who takes one kind of call.
Free if you take one kind of call, Standard if you need several event types and reminders. The reminders alone justify Standard for anybody with no-show problems.

My verdict
Calendly is one of the highest-return tools on this page relative to its cost. Arranging calls by email wastes an hour or two a week for anybody who takes them, and this removes that entirely.
Check what you already have first. Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 both include booking pages now, and for a single event type they are adequate and free.
The intake questions are the underrated feature. Asking three qualifying questions on the booking form has saved me more wasted calls than any other change to how I sell.
