What it is
Pipedrive is a sales CRM built around the pipeline: deals move through stages you define, and the interface makes the next action on every deal obvious.
It has deliberately stayed a sales tool rather than expanding into a marketing platform, which is why salespeople actually use it.
It is what I recommend alongside a separate email platform, and that combination costs far less than HubSpot's paid marketing tiers.
What it does
Visual pipeline management where every deal shows its stage, value and next scheduled activity, so nothing sits untouched by accident.
Activity-based selling is the design philosophy: the tool nags you about deals with no next action, which is the single most useful behaviour a CRM can have.
Email integration syncs conversations to deals, with templates and tracking on higher tiers.
Automation handles stage changes, task creation and notifications, and reporting shows conversion by stage so you can see where deals actually die.

| PLAN | WHAT YOU GET | WORTH IT FOR |
|---|---|---|
| Free trial | Full access for a limited period. | Testing properly. |
| Essential | Pipeline, activities, basic reporting. | Solo consultants. |
| Advanced | Email sync, automation, templates. | Small teams. The usual tier. |
| Professional and above | Forecasting, advanced reporting, permissions. | Larger sales functions. |
Priced per user with no free tier. The Advanced tier is where email sync and automation live, and it is what most teams need.
The Advanced tier, paired with MailerLite for email marketing. That combination does what HubSpot's paid marketing tiers do for a fraction of the cost.

My verdict
Pipedrive is the CRM I recommend to businesses that actually sell. The pipeline view makes the state of every deal obvious, and the activity prompts solve the real problem in small business sales, which is deals going quiet because nobody scheduled the next step.
Its restraint is the point. It has not expanded into marketing, so the interface stays fast and salespeople update it, which is more valuable than any feature a broader platform offers.
Pair it with a separate email platform. Pipedrive plus MailerLite is the combination I set up most often, and it costs less than half of HubSpot's equivalent paid tiers.
