In plain English
Search intent describes what a searcher wants. Keyword intent is the working version of that idea: a column in your research where every term is tagged informational, navigational, commercial or transactional.
That tag does more work than any other field in the sheet, because it determines the page type, the length, the tone and whether there is an offer on the page at all.
What to know
Why it matters
Most content that fails does so because it was built from a keyword without an intent label. Adding that one column turns a keyword list into a publishing plan, and prevents the common mistake of answering a buying question with an essay.

FAQs
How do I classify a term I am unsure about?
Search it. The format of the results is the search engine's own answer.
Can intent change?
Yes. A term can shift from informational to commercial as a market matures.
